Every once in a while, I poke around on instagram in the maps area to find pictures of areas I am interested in visiting. Among these, the Tri-State marker (the point where Rhode Island, MAssachusetts and CONNECTICUT meet) has been on my list for a while now.
Thru instagram, I re-connected with an old friend that I HAVEN’T talked to for 25-ish years. He is an long-time cyclist of the ‘party-pace’ variety and suggested that we get TOGETHER for a ride to explore the SNETT (Southern New England TRUNKLINE Trail) as well as visit the Tri-State marker.

The trail section we rode was very smooth and well maintained. It was absolutely straight as far as I could see: like riding thru a tunnel of green.
There are many side options to be had. So many small finds are tucked away in the woods, and luckily my friend knew of many. I failed to take many PICTURES, but got a pic of one of the many old stone home foundations deep in the woods.

Branching off of the SNETT, one can ride from New Hampshire, to making your way thru Rhode Island to the Atlantic ocean. Also one can continue deep thru CONNECTICUT to NEw York State.

The ride to the tri-state marker was extremely rocky. I was concentrating so hard on picking my way thru the rocks I failed to actually stop and take a picture of the trail. It’s like someone took every rock from the forest and dumped them onto the trail. Ad that with an extremely steep climb, and we were both relegated to walking. I was glad that I took my electric mountain bike for the rear suspension, but I was still gassed at the top of the climb even with the power turned way up.

My friend only owns one bike, a fully ridgid, single speed Surly fat bike. He has been riding single speed for so long he’s just in-tune with it and danced along without issue. Very impressive.
I’m going to have to make another visit here again on my Gorilla Monsoon to spend an entire day and explore more.
Thanks for being here…
