This past August 14th thru the 17th (2026), I found myself in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada. I believe that I have visited here 3 times total in the past. It has become my favorite city to visit.

The smaller size of Quebec City means that one can drive in, park the car, and walk everywhere. A bicycle would be ideal, but when traveling with others sometimes this isn’t a possibility. Also, unless your in really great shape with very strong legs, cycling would be challenging considering the amount of ‘short but punchy’ hills (lots of climbing) that riddle the city. the Bike Breath youtube channel created a great video on cycling in Quebec City.

Not only does the intimate size of the city work well for exploring, but with camera in hand, there is so much to capture due to the architecture. The historic district is actually a UNESCO world heritage site. Although, this being said, it is a city that is lived in. The historic district has active businesses and people live there year round, and is in no way a ‘living museum’.

The food is spectacular. The people are really friendly. The light, even in august, isn’t particularly harsh (being a fairly far north location helps). It always feels great to cross the border.
I really enjoyed wandering with my camera, and took roughly 400 pictures in total. All the pics posted are straight from my X100VI, no post production, no posing, no BS, just real captures.
When I think of where I might go for a short vacation that is within driving distance from my home here in Rhode Island, this place is always where my compass takes me.
Thanks for being here…
